End of the Week Bliss #2

I realize I'm a day late on my "End of the Week Bliss" it's just been a very busy week for me. I have many highs for this week.

My youngest finished his first baseball season and it was amazing! He hit the ball on the first shot each time and finished strong.

I started hot power yoga this week and signed up for a 40 day program. I am in a lot of pain but loving it so far!

But the one thing that really made my week was my oldest son. As I've mentioned before, he struggles with ADHD and while I would consider him to be a mild case, it is still something we fight with on a regular basis. Recently, he's been having some issues focusing and controlling himself in class. The fact that he is in honors classes makes his situation a little more difficult because there is a lot more expected from him. I'd been receiving a few emails letting me know that his behavior was not acceptable in the classroom and that he was struggling to control himself. The doctor had been asking us to increase his medication and I, of course, had refused. After receiving these emails I decided to take our doctors advice, but I only increased it by half of what the doctor wanted. I sat my son down and spoke to him about his behavior and reiterated what was expected of him. Within 3 days I received a very different email from one of his teachers. Not only had his behavior drastically improved, she'd made a point to acknowledge it in front of the entire class. For a child with ADHD this is a major accomplishment, they are usually reprimanded within the classroom environment. This means that anytime they are awarded for positive behavior within the classroom, it does wonders for their self-esteem. I almost cried when I received the message and my son came home that day beaming. I was so delighted that the teacher made a point to point out his positive behavior. Most teachers solely focus on the negative. It was one of the best days of my life!
